Every child can be an independent reader.

Dyslexia Reader turns any printed page or PDF into an accessible reading experience — with text-to-speech, syllabification, onset/rime, and more. It works with your child's actual classroom materials, not a separate library. Built on 20+ years of dyslexia research by the Madras Dyslexia Association.

How It Works

Step 1: Bring in your reading material.

Scan a physical page using your device's camera, or upload a PDF. Dyslexia Reader digitizes the text and prepares it for supported reading. No need for special e-books or a proprietary library — use your actual textbooks, worksheets, and assignments.

Step 2: Choose your reading mode.

Read independently with on-demand supports, or have the app read aloud to you. Switch between page view (see the whole page), sentence view (one sentence at a time), and word view (one word at a time) to match your comfort level.

Step 3: Get help when you need it.

Stuck on a word? Tap it for instant support. Dyslexia Reader offers multiple types of help for every word: hear it spoken aloud, see it broken into syllables, explore its onset and rime, find rhyming words, and look up its meaning.

Key Features

Text-to-Speech

High-quality voices read the text aloud with synchronized highlighting, so your child can follow along. Adjustable speed lets them read at their own pace.

Syllabification

Any word can be broken into syllables with a single tap. This helps children decode unfamiliar words using the same strategies taught in evidence-based reading interventions.

Onset & Rime

See how words are built from their onset (beginning sound) and rime (ending pattern). This phonological awareness support is a core strategy recommended by dyslexia specialists.

Word Families

Discover related words that share the same rime pattern. "Cat" connects to "bat," "hat," "sat" — building a web of decodable words.

Focus Tools

Screen masking highlights a single line, reducing visual clutter. A finger-tracking pencil icon helps maintain focus and supports hand-eye coordination while reading.

Distraction-Free Reading

Plain-text mode strips away background images. Colored overlays help readers with Irlen Syndrome. Customizable fonts, sizes, and colors let every child create their ideal reading environment.

Built with the Madras Dyslexia Association

Madras Dyslexia Association Logo

Dyslexia Reader was co-developed with the Madras Dyslexia Association (MDA), a non-profit organization that has been empowering children with dyslexia since 1992. MDA's reading strategies — refined over 20+ years of hands-on work with thousands of children — are embedded directly into the app.

This isn't generic text-to-speech. Every support feature in Dyslexia Reader reflects decades of clinical experience in what actually helps dyslexic children become independent readers.

Coming Soon — Dyslexia Reader on the Web

We're bringing Dyslexia Reader to the web. Soon, you'll be able to upload a PDF and experience the full reading support experience from any browser, on any device — no download required. Perfect for classroom evaluations and quick trials.
